About Us

Strategic Freight Solutions is a family-owned freight company that started in Texas and was built by people who have driven, dispatched and brokered freight themselves. Flatbed is a big part of what we do from our Houston base, because so much of the Gulf Coast's freight is steel, pipe, lumber and equipment that will not fit through a dock door. Today we coordinate open-deck loads throughout Texas and the rest of the country through more than 30,000 available carriers, picking operators who have hauled your commodity before. Each shipment is run by one dedicated coordinator from the first quote to the final delivery at your site. More on the Company

Standard Flatbed

Standard Flatbed

Standard Flatbed

A standard 48 to 53-foot flatbed is the fastest open-deck trailer to load. Loaders and cranes can load it from the side, the rear or overhead, which works for steel yards, lumber racks and job sites without a dock. It hauls up to about 48,000 pounds at a legal cargo height of 8 feet 6 inches.

Step Deck and Double Drop

Step Deck and Double Drop

Step Deck and Double Drop

When freight is too tall for a standard flatbed, a step deck lowers the rear deck and adds roughly 18 inches of legal height. A double drop sits lower still for tall machinery and large components. We select the deck that keeps your load legal and avoids a permit whenever the dimensions make it possible.

Securement and Tarping

Securement and Tarping

Securement and Tarping

Flatbed freight is open to wind, rain and road grime the entire trip. We book carriers who strap, chain and tarp to FMCSA securement rules, add edge protection on steel and finished materials, and confirm the plan before loading so nothing is turned away at the scale house or the receiving dock.

What We Haul on a Flatbed

What We Haul on a Flatbed

What We Haul on a Flatbed

Our flatbed loads include structural steel, pipe, rebar, lumber, precast concrete, roofing and building materials, tanks, and machinery that loads from the top or side. If it travels on an open deck, we can haul it, from a single bundle on a hotshot flatbed to a full 53-foot load.

Why Choose Us

On an open deck, the details determine whether a load arrives clean. We review deck height before booking, because a few inches can be the difference between a legal load and a permitted one. Securement is set up to FMCSA rules, with edge protection and tarps where the freight needs them. You get a transparent quote with no deposits and no hidden charges, and an agent who picks up at any hour. We are licensed, bonded, insured and FMCSA compliant, and we keep you posted from pickup to unloading so your team is ready when the truck arrives.

Look No Further for Flatbed Trucking Company in Amarillo

Shipping on a flatbed with us is easy. Send the commodity, dimensions, weight, pickup and delivery locations, and any loading equipment on site. Your agent selects the trailer, confirms securement and tarp needs, and books a carrier with flatbed experience on that freight. You get a confirmed rate up front and status updates while the load is moving. If the dimensions push the load into oversize territory, we arrange the permits and escorts so you do not have to find a second provider.
